What Is This Film Really About?
We head back to Shelbyville, Tennessee one last time to see what members of the community thought of the film “Welcome to Shelbyville.”
Little Bosnia: The Gateway Generation
When people talk about the Bosnian community in St. Louis, they often speak of “waves.” The first wave arrived in 1992, when the Bosnian war started. Over the next 10 years, two more major waves of Bosnian refugees came to our region. Now there is a fourth wave–the children who are born here in the United States.
Little Bosnia: Power of Attorney
Ask a child what they want to be when they grow up and the response is probably something fairly awesome and far-reaching…astronaut, baseball player, veterinarian. There could be any number of reasons behind their dream job, but for some children it’s about being deeply inspired.
Little Bosnia: Arrival Times
One of the reasons we’ve put together this series on “Little Bosnia” is because our community has asked for more information about this large group of immigrants. This piece is a compilation of first impressions of the U.S. and St. Louis from a few members of our Bosnian community. Nearly every family has stories like this; they either get passed down over the years or they get lost.
