Terms of Use
This policy explains how Nine Network/KETC (from here forward: KETC) collects and uses information submitted in connection with the Homeland project. We recognize the value of personal privacy and copyright protection and wish to protect your information and copyright holders. The Homeland project is maintained and hosted by KETC. The Homeland project may make use of information submitted to KETC online and available on the Homeland web site or web sites maintained by KETC, as well as in KETC televised programming and as part of the KETC collection at the Missouri Historical Society and other uses as determined by KETC.
Content submitted by the public
The Homeland project allows the public to share personal stories, options and comments. The following types of submissions are permitted:
- Personal, factual stories about life and experiences. Information about products, services or commercial interest should not be included.
- Personal opinions on the topic of immigration or topics related to immigration.
- Comments on content posted by the Homeland staff and the public.
Content may be submitted by posting/uploading to the explorehomeland.org web site, or by posting/uploading content in the KETC sponsored groups/pages/feeds on the YouTube, Facebook and Twitter web social media platforms. Making a submission in any form requires your acceptance of these terms and conditions.
Policies governing your submission of content
You are responsible for the content of any information you submit for use in connection with the Homeland project. The information used in connection with this project does not necessarily reflect the views of KETC and in no event shall KETC assume or have any responsibility or liability for any information submitted for use with this project or for any claims, damages or losses resulting from the use and/or appearance of such information in connection with this project.
By making a submission in any form to KETC in connection with the Homeland project, you affirm that your submission, including text, digital images and video, is original to you, that you hold all necessary rights to this work or have permission from the copyright holder, or the work is in the public domain, and that the submission does not defame or otherwise violate the rights, copyrights, trademarks, publicity, privacy, or reputation of any third party.
By making your submission to the Homeland project you expressly grant KETC your permission to record, edit, transcribe, duplicate, distribute, and perform your submission, in any and all media now existing or hereafter developed, throughout the world. You also grant KETC the right to use your name, likeness, and voice in connection with the use and/or republication of your submission.
Under this agreement you will retain ownership of the copyright of your submission. However, as a condition of use of your submission and for no monetary compensation, you hereby grant to KETC and KETC and hereby accept a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and perform such information in any and all media now known or hereinafter devised and to authorize others to exercise such rights. You further represent that you have all necessary rights in your submission. Any items submitted to KETC cannot be returned.
You agree to indemnify and hold KETC harmless against any claims asserted by any third parties that allege your submission violates their rights, or from any breach by you of your promises in this agreement. You shall be responsible for any costs incurred by KETC for defense or settlement of third- party claims, including but not limited to KETC reasonable attorneys’ fees.
You understand that submitting content does not guarantee that your work will be displayed on this web site or otherwise used by KETC. The decision of which and how each submission received by KETC will be used will be at the sole discretion of KETC. Content and comments submitted to and approved by KETC may be available for public viewing on the explorehomeland.org web site or web sites maintained by KETC, on KETC’s televised programming, and as part of the KETC collection at the Missouri Historical Society.
Notice of Intellectual Property Infringement
KETC respect the intellectual property rights of others. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and other applicable law, it is the policy of KETC to terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the account of any user who is deemed to infringe third party intellectual property rights. If you believe that your work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement or are aware of any infringing material placed by any third party on explorehomeland.org or www.ketc.org, please provide the following information to our Copyright Agent:
- an electronic or physical signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the copyright or other intellectual property interest;
- a description of the copyrighted work or other intellectual property that you claim has been infringed;
- a description of where the material you claim is infringing is located on the site;
- your address, telephone number, and email address;
- a statement by you that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;

Protecting your personal information
We collect personally-identifying information such as your name and e-mail address on these pages. We ask you to provide this information when you submit content, or make a comment on content. Please note, your name will be displayed on the explorehomeland.org web site or other web site maintained by KETC. When submitting your name, you are advised to use a name that you want the public to see. E-mail addresses will only be used for administrative purposes by KETC. Your e-mail address will not be shared or sold to a third party without first receiving your permission.
We limit the use of personally-identifying information to the following activities: identifying the contributor of content to this web site and identifying the contributor of a comment about content.

KETC does not sell information collected by cookies nor use the information for commerce-related purposes.

These sites may use cookies, collect data, and use the data in ways that we would not. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or any information or materials on these other sites.
Acceptance of the Submission & Usage Policy
For online submissions, you signify your acceptance of the terms spelled out in this agreement by clicking the “Submit” button on any submission/comment form in the explorehomeland.org web site or web sites maintained by KETC. If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, please do not use the explorehomeland.org web site or otherwise make a submission to the Homeland project.
By making a submission to the Homeland project, you expressly grant KETC permission to use and edit the submission in its sole discretion and to use your name in connection with the use and/or republication of your submission. All submissions are subject to our Submission & Usage Policy.

Release and indemnity
