From the Eyes of an Employer

Jobs and the economy are two of the biggest issues relating to immigration that folks in the St. Louis community are interested in talking about. We’ve looked at whether or not there are jobs Americans won’t take; how immigrants benefit or harm the economy; and the percentage of foreign-born workers in the U.S. We’ve also talked about the role of employers with respect to hiring immigrants (illegal or otherwise).

Leigh Butler took a Nine Academy class in November and produced this video about a business owner, George Knapp, who prefers to hire immigrants (as long as their Social Security numbers are valid) for myriad reasons. Mr. Knapp also talks about the hiring process he goes through, as well as some of his workers’ hopes for citizenship.

Take a look at the clip—Mr. Knapp is very straightforward about his beliefs and hiring policies. What do you think?
