Immigrants in the Workplace of America
When considering immigration, jobs and the economy are two of the most disputed and heated issues that arise. People are concerned that immigrants take jobs from Americans; some see immigrants as a great way to stimulate the economy, as they contribute to the workforce; and some people think immigrants have no effect on the economy.
Today we have one perspective on immigrants in the workplace. CaSaundra Jolliff took a Nine Academy class in November and interviewed Sergio Munoz, who manages the employment services at the St. Patrick Center. He shares his thoughts on the “growing Latin phenomenon” in St. Louis and some of the challenges that immigrants, both documented and undocumented, face in the workplace.
Take a look at CaSaundra’s video. How do you feel about what Sergio has to say?
