The Entrepreneurial Spirit
The mainstream media tends to focus on the negative side of immigration—illegal immigrants, crime, if and how they drain the economy—but what about the other side of immigration? What about people who move to the U.S. and are not only productive citizens, but greatly contribute to the economy? This story is common, but it’s often lost in all the negativity.
Laura Newman took a Nine Academy class and interviewed an immigrant who came to the U.S. and opened a successful business in the Ozarks. She’s created jobs and thus contributed to the economy.
Can you think of, or do you know, other immigrants who have moved to the U.S. and have really made a positive contribution (big or small)?
