An Immigrant’s Perspective on the Arizona Law

Lauren Schwarze | October 22, 2010 | Comments (11)

What do immigrants think of the Arizona Law? Claire Anderson took a nineAcademy class in September and interviewed a Korean immigrant who shared some thoughts on SB-1070. MiAnn Gwin says people should try to come to America legally, and she wouldn’t mind being asked for identification to verify her legal status.

Take a look at the video–what do you think?

I found Ms. Gwin’s perspective to be very interesting, as well as extremely thought provoking. Thanks for a great interview!

  2. Ocki Haas says:

Way to go, Mom! A common sense perspective from someone I know personally that dearly loves this country!

    • Chris A says:

As a child of a naturalized citizen, I remember my mother treasuring her identification (passport, citizenship papers etc). I deeply respect my mother for her hard work to become a citizen. I will never forget the excitement in our home when she was able to participate in an election and vote for the first time. Like Mrs. Gwinn (MiAnn) she is an inspiration.

  3. Caleb says:

#1 Korean grandma of all time. WHAT UP KIRKWOOD?!

  7. Rita Zeitz says:

Personally, not in agreement with the new immigration laws in Arizona. Appreciate hearing your views MiAnn. We are so lucky to be in a country that lets us express our thoughts!

  8. W.C. Camp says:

As a natural citizen I AM EXPECTED to show my car license and registration so as Ms. Gwinn points out, “Who cares if I show identification if I have nothing to hide”. If I am legally here it is badge of honor to have a green card and the respect that comes with it! Interesting interview. W.C.C.

  9. MiAnn,

Great job on the interview! What you said does make sense. We’re proud of you!

    Love, Larry & Cindy
