St. Louis Is Not Baywatch
Building the American Dream is more than just a metaphor for immigrants and refugees in St. Louis. In this segment we did last summer with Nedim Ramic, you literally hear the sounds of hammering in the background. We spoke with him as reconstruction was being done for his law office on Gravois.
Listening to his remarks about his perceptions of the United States (perceptions based on media imagery) I had to wonder what others outside the United States must imagine life is like here if they are basing the perception on media images. What do you think? Have you traveled abroad with a particular vision in mind based on media images and discovered something totally different?
